FreshWater IQ helps owners of compatible Caldera spas understand their water care. Its Salt System and Smart Monitoring System do different jobs; newer compatible installations can also use a separate Dosing System.
FreshWater IQ for Caldera Spas

What is included at Ultimate Hot Tubs?
Salt System included with Utopia: at Ultimate Hot Tubs, the FreshWater Salt System comes as standard with the Caldera Utopia range. For other compatible Caldera hot tubs it is available at extra cost. This offer does not apply to Fantasy spas or Endless Pools.
The Salt System and IQ Smart Monitoring are separate components. Ask us to confirm the monitoring, dosing or connected equipment supplied with your chosen spa.
Choose the equipment for your spa
- Utopia: Salt System included as standard. Confirm the IQ monitoring setup in your quotation.
- Paradise and compatible Vacanza: Salt System available at extra cost. Ask us to confirm model-year compatibility.
- Fantasy and Endless Pools: this Caldera salt-system offer does not apply.
For a useful quotation, tell us your chosen Caldera model and ask which water-care components, installation and ongoing consumables it covers.
FreshWater Salt System: better water, less hassle
The FreshWater Salt System uses a replaceable titanium cartridge to turn a low level of salt into chlorine. It helps keep your spa water clean while reducing the amount of sanitiser you need to add by hand.
- Natural-feeling water: fewer chemical additions can mean softer-feeling water and fewer harsh odours. Caldera describes it as gentler on skin and eyes.
- Fewer drains and refills: properly maintained water can last up to a year, helping conserve water and reduce refill costs. Water chemistry and the number of bathers affect how long it lasts.
- Less routine dosing: chlorine is generated automatically at your chosen output setting, leaving more time to enjoy your spa.
Simple cartridge replacement
The cartridge sits inside the spa and can be changed without tools. Each cartridge lasts up to four months; a three-pack can cover a year when the system is properly maintained. The cartridge needs no cleaning, but the spa still needs its regular water checks and maintenance.

Optional silver-ion water care
Caldera also suggests an optional silver-ion cartridge alongside the Salt System. Ask our team about a compatible Monarch silver cartridge and local availability for your spa.

FreshWater IQ: cleaner water, simpler care
FreshWater IQ adds in-line Smart Monitoring to compatible salt-equipped Caldera spas, helping you understand what your water needs.
- Self-monitoring: checks pH, chlorine and salt levels every hour.
- Clear guidance: readings and recommended next steps appear on the spa’s control panel.
- Consistent water care: regular information helps you spot when sanitiser or water balance needs attention.
- Less time and effort: practical prompts make routine care easier to follow.
- A low level of salt: the Salt System provides the chlorine; this is still sanitised spa water and still needs appropriate water-care products.
- Care for your spa: keep water balanced and follow the maintenance schedule for your equipment as well as your bathing comfort.
Smart Monitoring provides advice. It does not automatically make every adjustment. Separate compatible Dosing equipment can dispense pH Up, pH Down or Phosphate Remover with a tap; a compatible Connected Spa Kit adds supported phone controls.
Salt generation and smart monitoring: what is the difference?
The FreshWater Salt System converts salt into chlorine to sanitise the water. Smart Monitoring measures pH, chlorine and salt and provides readings and advice. It needs the compatible Salt System installed and operating correctly.
Having a salt system alone does not mean a spa has FreshWater IQ monitoring. For owners, the useful difference is a regular view of water conditions and guidance about adjustments.
Which Caldera spas can use FreshWater IQ?
The Salt System is available on 2019 and newer Utopia and Paradise spas, with compatible Vacanza models added from 2025. Salt compatibility and IQ monitoring compatibility are different.
Caldera’s smart-monitoring guidance identifies Utopia and Paradise spas made from January 2024 onwards. Older spas are not compatible with this monitoring system.
Vacanza has salt-system compatibility from the 2025 model year, but does not support IQ Smart Monitoring or Dosing. Fantasy does not support FreshWater IQ.
Ask us about FreshWater IQ availability for your chosen spa. We will check the model year and equipment and confirm what is in your quotation.
What about dosing and the Caldera app?
Current manufacturer information describes separate dosing equipment for compatible Utopia and Paradise spas. With this fitted, an owner can dispense pH adjustment or phosphate-removal products at a touch. It is not a feature of every IQ installation.
The spa’s control panel can operate IQ without an app. Remote features require a compatible Connected Spa Kit and Wi-Fi connection, as well as the relevant water-care equipment. Ask us to confirm the setup for your spa.
Water care still needs your attention
Follow your spa and water-care manuals, check the water before use and carry out routine maintenance. Smart Monitoring does not measure every water-care parameter: separate checks are still needed for alkalinity, calcium hardness and phosphates.
